Cairo-13 June, 2017- ALEXBANK and Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD) sign MoU aiming to improve the living conditions of homeless children in Egypt as part of a long term partnership.
This MoU seals a three-year partnership to implement effective and tangible initiatives to support homeless children, with a total investment of EGP 15 mln, contributed by ALEXBANK and SFSD. The planned activities will be carried on in collaboration with several NGOs comprising of Abnaa El-Ghad Foundation “Banati”, the Egyptian Foundation “Ana El Masry” and Samusocial Egypt. The MoU comes as continuation of a previous two-year partnership between the two institutions in the same field that yielded significant accomplishments.
In this regard, an Iftar celebration was organized by ALEXBANK and SFSD to which about 600 homeless children where invited by Samu-Social Egypt NGO. The children enjoyed a wide scope of entertainment activities and games in a cheerful atmosphere, in the presence of Ministry of Social Solidarity representatives, Dr. Manal Shaheen - Head of Programs Sector at Long Live Egypt Fund, several NGOs and institutions.
“We are proud to continue our cooperation with the Sawiris Foundation in the field of childhood and youth education, extending in this way our support to valuable NGOs operating in this field equipped of vast professionalism and passion, to assure the best future and full citizenship to many unfortunate children” said Laila Hosny Head of Internal Communication and CSR of ALEXBANK.

Noura Selim, Executive Director of SFSD, said:"Among all segments of society, street children are a particularly vulnerable section of society whose rights require special protection, attention and support from their communities. The new partnership with ALEXBANK in this field aims to promote the children right to a decent life, decent housing, good education and all the basic needs of life in order to protect them from abuse, violence and exploitation.”
The initiative’s ultimate aim is to provide children with safe accommodation in care homes, offering proper nutrition in addition to treatments & medications, counseling, education and professional training to enable their future access to appropriate jobs. Further to securing the children's immediate, medium and long term needs, the objectives of this initiative extend to support the capabilities’ development of non-governmental organizations which operate in this field in coordination with the Egyptian authorities.
