We aim to keep our customers’ banking experience fully secure because the safety of your data and financial information is a fundamental priority.
Accordingly, we are providing you with some information to raise awareness about our bank’s digital services and communication channels and how to use them safely.
1- How to communicate with ALEXBANK?
When facing any obstacle throughout your banking experience, please contact us on:
- ALEXBANK Contact center on “19033” for retail customers, or “19044” for Magnifica and Private customers. In case of calling from outside Egypt, add (+202) before the number.
- Send an e-mail through customer_support@alexbank.com.
- Visit the nearest ALEXBANK branch.
- Send us your inquiry or complaint through this website.
2- What are the official channels used by ALEXBANK for communication?
You may receive SMSs from the below official Sender names for ALEXBANK:
- ALEXBANK
- ALEXPOINTS
- AB Magnifica
- AB Private
- Alex Bank
- Short SMS number: 4988
If you detect any suspicious activity during your banking experience, or receive messages or calls from an unknown individual claiming to be ALEXBANK’s employees or any governmental entity, please refer directly to the ALEXBANK contact center (19033) & they will assist you.
Noting that ALEXBANK will never ask you to share any of the below:
- Bank applications: Password - Activation code - Initial login PIN - One Time Password (OTP) for transactions
- Cards: PIN code - Card Verification Value (CVV) - One Time Password (OTP) for transactions
3-How to stay secure?
Online Security:
- Please note that the official URL for ALEXBANK is https://www.alexbank.com/.
- Ensure that any used website is secured (URL starts with HTTPS).
- Ensure that any ALEXBANK email communication is from a sender that ends with @AlexBank.com.
- Never open any email attachments from unknown or untrusted sources.
- Avoid clicking on links or downloading files in emails from unknown sources.
- Do not disclose your private or banking information in an email or through social applications (Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger ...etc.).
- Keep your financial details and your identity secured such as (PINs, passwords, OTP & CVV), and never share them with anyone.
- Check your account balance regularly.
- For internet banking, always use the bank’s official website and avoid accessing Internet banking from any link you receive via SMS or email.
- Refrain from using online banking or shopping websites from public networks such as Internet Cafes, libraries, etc.
- Not to provide your banking information and data to anyone.
- Not to use a test question as an additional security measure to protect your transaction.
When shopping online:
- Never allow your card number to be stored on any online shopping site.
- Ensure that any used website is secured (URL starts with HTTPS).
- Read the URL carefully and make sure that it is the official site and that it includes the correct company’s name.
- Read the privacy policy to know how your information will be used.
- When you are done, be sure to log out from your account.
- Beware of public Wi-Fi as public networks can be used by hackers to know what you are doing.
ATM Security:
- Observe your surroundings before using an ATM. If you can observe any irregular device attached to the ATM or any suspicious activity, please contact the bank’s official contact center (19033) and refrain from using the ATM.
- Please ensure that the PIN pad is covered, and no one is looking while entering your card’s PIN
- Never share your card’s PIN with anyone
Card Security:
- Select a PIN code that is unique and difficult for others to guess and don’t associate your PIN with anything personal such as birthdays, phone numbers or other familiar numbers.
- Avoid disclosing your PIN to anyone.
- In case your card got stolen, or you have discovered unverified transactions then contact ALEXBANK's contact center (19033) immediately to block your card and investigate the transactions.
- Don't leave your card PIN in your wallet or any accessible place.
Password for Mobile & Internet Banking:
- Always use strong and long passwords that consist of uppercase & lowercase letters, numbers and special charecters (!, @, #, ?, etc.).
- Your password must not be easy to guess or have personal significance such as birthdays, phone numbers, family names, etc.
- Avoid using a keyboard sequence such as 12345678, 11111111, QWERTY, etc.
- Never share your password with anyone.
- Never write down your password on anything that can be easily reached.
- Avoid using the same password for everything.
- Contact the Bank if you think anyone is trying to use your internet banking password.
- Always change your password maximum every 35 days.
Email Security:
- Some fraudulent websites are designed to trick you and collect your personal information. Sometimes links to such websites are contained in email messages purporting to come from legitimate institutions. Make sure to use the official known web address, to link to bank pages.
- Always check very carefully the email sender and make sure it ends with @AlexBank.com.
- Be suspicious of any email that requires an “immediate action”, like sending your data or following a link, etc.
- Analyze the content of the email and suspect if there are typos.
- Be suspicious of attachments. Only open those you are expecting from trusted senders.
- Be very careful with links. Check the full URL by passing over the mouse cursor till the end.
- ALEXBANK will never ask you for confidential information to be shared. Contact the call center (19033) whenever you receive such emails.
- Apply the above measures even when you read the mail from mobile/tablet.
Transfer with Western Union Security:
Avoid transferring money in the below cases:
- To someone you haven’t met in person before.
- For an emergency which is not confirmed.
- For an online purchase or to pay taxes.
- For anti-virus protection.
- For a deposit or payment on a rental property.
- To claim lottery, prize winnings or donation to charity.
- Through unknown online shopping websites.
- For a job opportunity.
- For a credit card or loan fee.
- To resolve an immigration matter.
- Chat rooms applications and websites.
