As part of its continuous commitment to community development initiatives, ALEXBANK sponsored Hope Village Society to help children under the NGOs care join the Egyptian team participating in the World Cup for Street Children taking place in Brazil ahead of the World Cup Championship hosted by the country in 2014. Roberto Vercelli, Managing Director and CEO of ALEXBANK stated, “We are delighted at ALEXBANK to play a part in shedding light on one of the most dangerous problems affecting Egyptian society – the problem of street children whose emotional and psychological trauma, spill over into society affecting the economy, general security and basic level of humanity. ALEXBANK’s CEO added, “ALEXBANK’s support of Egypt’s children participating in the championship comes out of its belief that the World Cup for Street Children is not just a sports championship, but an attempt to offer these children the opportunities they deserve in order to enjoy a normal life. It is an example of how sport can give hope to a street child and combat the difficult conditions they live in. This notion is strongly supported by the bank as it concurs with its vision of positive community service.” The World Cup for Street Children was held from the 29th of March until the 12th of April and it is an international championship that is meant to assemble street children in an international campaign aiming at increasing opportunities for these children to enjoy the protection and care they deserve. The championship’s opening game has been held between Brazil’s children and Egypt’s children who represented their country under the sponsorship of ALEXBANK. ALEXBANK’s strategy is built on a commitment to the development of the community in which it works. The bank has been contributing to corporate social responsibility projects with major sustainable development international players. In 2007, the bank also initiated a series of sponsorship campaigns with Hope Village Society through funding the biggest street children shelter as well as sponsoring sports, cultural and artistic activities offered by the NGO’s Academy for Street Children Rehabilitation.
